WE ARE LARC...

CILA Program

LARC clients have the opportunity to experience a self-directed lifestyle in our CILA (Community Integrated Living Arrangement) Program. We operate several single-family homes in the community in which clients are able to live in small groups of 3-4 individuals per house. Homes are staffed by direct support professionals who are trained in assisting and caring for the clients while also allowing them to lead independent lifestyles in their own homes. Each participant in the CILA program has their own bedroom, participates in preparing home-cooked meals, and contributes to the daily upkeep of the home.

LARC is a private, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3), community-service organization that serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ensuring they can live a quality and engaging life by participating as contributing members of their community.

Originally formed in 1956, as a school for children with developmental disabilities (The Lansing School of Special Education), LARC has grown to provide services and supports to approximately 100 individuals across the Chicagoland Area.

Community Day Service Program

LARC also operates a community day service program for residents of the CILAs, as well as individuals residing in private homes or other facilities. Participants of this program have the opportunity to receive job training and placement and educational classroom lessons. The program also offers recreational activities like arts and crafts, exercise classes, garden club, cooking class, holiday parties, community field trips, and more. These services not only give clients the opportunity to learn and practice fun, new skills, but also to socialize with their peers.

In order to continue to provide the highest quality of care to those we serve, we look to the generosity of our supporters.

The funding we receive often falls behind the rising costs of care.  For this reason, donations are hugely impactful to our services and supports.
